I was sitting in a pharmacy today waiting for some prescriptions and noticed All My Children playing on TV. Is that the one with Susan lucci? It was the one with susan lucci. anyway, two of the characters were waiting off stage of a 'talk show' hosted by susan lucci's character. I think it was called New Beginnings, which is awesoeme. Anyway. one of the characters was a pretty brunette who was standing with some kind of she-male transvestite who was to be a guest on the show. I think the pretty brunette eventually confessed her love for the she-male on the 'national' talk show. And as i'm marveling at the ridiculousness of soap operas the lady next to me, a 60-something persian woman in huge fakie chanel sunglasses, leans over and asks, "is that a man or a woman?" I answer that i think it's a man and she said, "NO! Oh, tsk, tsk, tsk" She spent the next 20 mintues with her giganto glasses glued to the screen. How many shows get the kind of reaction/devotion. Not many. All My Children will live forever, just like Susan Lucci.
