photo update

We have had a crazy couple of weeks! I celebrated my 32nd bday as seen here with the "girls" at Velvet Margarita Cantina. When we sat down i announced to the waiter that we don't drink so we wouldn't be ordering any alcohol. He could hardly believe it but was cute and flirty and chatted with us for a little bit and then we barely saw him the rest of the night. he probably knew his tip had a ceiling. ha ha. He did produce some deliciously crazy drinks for us, though. I got a pina colada and it was in a big shaved coconut. It rocked.

The super star in green with the sunglasses on is Brooke. That night she had a bugger of a scratch on her eye and couldn't see anything, including the movie afterword, but she was turning heads like she was a celebrity. She was a total trooper as evidenced in the jumping photos. have you ever tried jumping blind in 2 inch platforms? not easy.

We saw 'Waitress' at the Arclight after the cantina and i think it's safe to say we all LOVED it. it's a great film and we had a great time. The expressions on Renee, Beth and Jackie say it all. Thanks girls. Oh! and they gave me a pot. and not just any pot, they gave me my first red Le Creuset pot from williams sonoma. it was a total shocker and i love it.

It was so much fun to see Kaylene and her family. We swam every single day and hit the beach and, of course, Sushi! Kaylene was so brave. i don't have any of those pics downloaded yet but she ate it all. Rolls, albacore, etc. i won't go so far to say that she loved it but sometimes trying is the first step. But here are some pics of Thomas, Jake and Eric. They made me some yummy food on my bday and Owen thought having 3 little brothers around was pure heaven! We can't wait for them to come back.

And then last but not least....Mendi and Braiden we're in town for a wedding and they took me to lunch at a yummy little italian place 2 doors up from Venice Beach. It was so fun to catch up and to see their little kiddos again. Mendi is my oldest friend. We've known each other for 20 years this year. Can you believe it??

Another Stakeout! (an entry from 3 days ago)

I'm typing this at 10 mintues to 3:00 in the morning. Do you remember me telling you about the guy that got arrested at our building with 5 cop cars closing down our block and the helicopter overhead? Well, about a half hour ago I was awakened by a loud noise and some shouting out on the street. I thought i heard someone say the word "trapped" so i was thinking there was an accident. I was freaking out so I woke up D and we ran to the window. There were two cops standing by our side gate talking about a guy that had just jumped the fence into our back alley. We listened for about 5 minutes and then D decides to take them the perimeter keys. Just then the girl cop shines the flashlight in my face and says, "hey do you have keys to this gate?"

"yeah, my husband is coming down," i yell back from my window.

Anyway he comes back and decides to find out if the description matches "Johnny." When he goes back out, the helicopter starts buzzing overhead and the searchlight starts searching our side gate the little alley and the entire area. D comes back up and tells me 5'7", shaved head, ball cap and grey hoodie. Yep, that's him. And probably a lot of other people too but it's totally our guy "Johnny." I clean up the lint from his stupid grey hoodie in the laundry room all the time.

Then D says, "Maybe i should give them a quick schematic of the building." What?!? Just stay out of it! But he's like a self-proclaimed Jr. Officer. 5 minutes later he has a drawing of our building and a big star on their unit.

He runs it back down, gives them the map. When he gets back he says, they're bringing in the DOGS and if his scent goes back down that alley on the side, they'll let us know. DOGS!?! are you even kidding me?? What did he do? Crap!

So, now we've just been awake, waiting to see what happens. About 10 minutes ago we heard the voice from the copter reading someone their rights. There were two guys so maybe they're still looking for the other one because the helicopter is still here and i just heard a dog bark.

Note: this has a pretty good ending and some great photos. will update as soon as the Spurs game is over.

Look for the Brown Eyed Blondie!!

Doug shot B Camera which means he shot pretty much everything that doesn't have people in it.

WE WON!!

By one point. it was white knuckle the ENTIRE time and then they pulled it out in the end 18 to 17. Fire Rules!

Basketball Roundup!

Well, for the first time in our family we are going to A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!

Sophie's playoff game on Saturday was so exciting!! It was a total nail biter and we went back and forth between, "we're winning" to "we're loosing" at least 10 times. The score was that close the entire time. Sophie rocked defense. Because this was her first year playing It took a while to figure out just where she fits in with this team. But she has emerged one of their best defenders. The second the other players cross that half court line she is "all up in their grill," as Uncle Rossy likes to say. She's fast and plays like a brick wall.

The Championship game is on Tuesday Night. Go FIRE Go!!

Owen's division is hilarious to watch. Oh, it's so cute. He doesn't really get the point yet but when his coach yells "Defense" he knows just where to stand and he stretches his arms out really wide. Sometimes he'll do the little defense shuffle. I die at that one, it's so funny. My favorite is the thumbs up we get as he runs up and down the court. So, the good news is he doesn't hate it. He really likes it, which is something Moms worry about when they force their kids into things.

Then again, he's a Chamberlain. It's in his blood.

And finally, Spurs. What a week to be a Spurs Fan! In games that rival sophie's playoffs in excitement and intensity, they sent the Phoenix Suns home crying. We were all going crazy down here. Then yesterday they won Game 1 of the series with the Jazz. Me thinks we may have two championships trophies this year!! Go Spurs Go!

Ha ha ha ha.

I was at Target today and was browsing through some of their clothes. I love their Go! campaign where they bring in designers from all over the world to design a line for Target. The line is only on sale for about 2 months and then they change it to a new designer. They usually have funky stuff. Today i found this super cool shirt by Patrick Robinson. It's a beigy-taupey sheer fabric with satin stripes sewn down the front, like a tuxedo shirt. It was so cute so i brought it home.

Sophie takes one look at it and says,

"wow!!...are you going to a rodeo?"

She was totally serious and that is totally sad for me.

In this pic it looks so ugly but i still think with the right outfit it could be fun. Like boots and a hat, maybe.

Oh, Williams Sonoma, you temptress.

I really, really want these. I think the rules of the universe state that after 12 years of marriage you get to replace all of the wonderful crap that you got for your wedding. Actually, i got pampered chef pots and pans so i can't complain too much, but i'm ready to upgrade. Wouldn't all of my future yummy salads taste so much yummmier if they were made with these?? I think so.
